Foggy Notions Presents the Irish Debut of Chanel Beads and special guests Urika's Bedroom. Tickets on sale now.
Chanel Beads — the project of New York-based musician Shane Lavers — has announced a headline US/UK/EU tour in support of his debut album, Your Day Will Come, out now via Jagjaguwar. Having just wrapped a sold-out tour with Mount Kimbie last month, Chanel Beads will return to the UK for a headline show at Corsica Studios, London, as well as Rally and End of the Road festivals in August, before wider UK and European dates (and Pitchfork festival) later in 2024. Also announced is their first North American headline tour.
Chanel Beads have also released an official video for album standout ‘Idea June’, directed by Dana Greenleaf. On ‘Idea June’, Maya McGrory takes lead vocals to project Shane’s lyrics, singing in a voice that’s both earnest and digitally processed as though she's speaking as a separate embodiment of Shane. In under two minutes, distorted guitars and cinematic strings by Zachary Paul land somewhere between detachment and kinship, becoming strangely affecting despite its unfinished and liminal form.
Your Day Will Come marks Lavers’ arrival as a new force in experimental music. Throughout the album, Lavers captures the many contradictions of modern existence and the strange infiniteness of the digital world. Though he incorporates the scrappy sonics of post-punk, the gripping sentimentality of pop tunes, and the spectral artifice of electronic music, he blurs lines through unconventional song structures that build into transcendental climaxes. As he intentionally prints his songs down to embed fried artifacts and ghostly remains, the resulting songs have a time-collapsing quality, both transitory and timeless.

Los Angeles-based artist urika’s bedroom announces debut album Big Smile, Black Mire due November 1st via True Panther (Oklou, Model/Actriz, Grace Ives, Christopher Owens). The announcement is paired with a first glimpse into the upcoming project with new single “Circle Games,” a spellbinding mix coated in ub’s signature digital gauze. urika’s latest offering utilizes silvery guitar tabs and textured production to create an ominous, rattling meditation on societal decay–which ub describes as “post-war everything.” The single comes alongside a video directed by Rich Smith of Powered by Wind (Body Meat, The Dare, Slow Pulp) featuring a hazy mix of spinning car imagery and shadowy figures.
urika’s bedroom is also announcing a string of EU and UK dates supporting New York City’s Chanel Beads on their upcoming tour. The tour begins in ub’s hometown of LA on October 12th and then heads across the pond to London, Berlin, Munich and more.
Self-produced and engineered by urika’s bedroom with additional mixing from Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beach House, DIIV), Big Smile, Black Mire is built upon the modern art of guitar processing and recontextualization. urika’s bedroom sculpts an expansive universe of timbres and tones, ranging from trashy and lived-in skronks to liquid beams of melody. ub renders a lucid depiction of longing, alienation, and multivalent emotional experiences powered by an avant-garde creative direction. The album is a marvel of scene-setting, a showcase for ub’s intuitive understanding of what makes for an evocative and devastating arrangement.
urika’s bedroom began playing in various genre-fluid bands in Los Angeles, leading to fruitful creative relationships and producing for like-minded artists such as untitled (halo) and Ded Hyatt. In fall 2023, ub invited audiences into an intimate artistic space with debut single “Junkie” and follow-up track “XTC,” while heading on tour with Youth Lagoon then Nourished By Time.
